Senior Electrical Design Engineer

Location: Preston - Hybrid working (2-3 days per week)
Salary: From £50,000 DOE
Hours: 40 hours per week - flexible working hours

The Opportunity

We are looking for an experienced Senior Electrical Design Engineer to join a collaborative and technically driven engineering business.

This is an excellent opportunity for an Electrical Design Engineer with strong experience across control panel design, LV distribution and MCC systems to work on varied and technically challenging projects. You will be involved throughout the engineering lifecycle, from initial design and specification through to commissioning support.

Key Responsibilities

• Produce electrical designs for a range of engineering projects.
• Design control panels, LV distribution systems and MCCs.
• Complete electrical load assessments and cable sizing calculations.
• Develop designs for plant rooms and control buildings.
• Support projects involving hazardous area requirements.
• Produce earthing and surge protection designs.
• Specify instrumentation and electrical equipment.
• Create Functional Design Specifications (FDS).
• Produce and maintain technical design documentation.
• Provide technical support during commissioning activities.
• Work collaboratively with engineering, project and site teams.
• Ensure designs meet relevant technical standards and project requirements.

Skills & Experience

The successful candidate will have:

• Proven experience within Electrical Design Engineering.
• Strong control panel design experience.
• Experience with LV distribution systems.
• Exposure to MCC design.
• Good knowledge of electrical load assessments.
• Experience within building services environments, including plant rooms and control buildings.
• Experience working on hazardous area projects.
• Knowledge of earthing and surge protection design.
• Instrumentation specification experience.
• Experience creating Functional Design Specifications (FDS).
• Strong cable sizing knowledge.
• Exposure to commissioning and site support.
• Excellent technical and communication skills.
